About the role: Claims Manager

As a Senior Claim Handler at Islands Insurance, you’ll manage and lead a first-class claims service in Jersey. You’ll work closely with the Head of Claims Service and contribute to delivering excellence and efficiency in claims handling.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Oversee all aspects of the Claims team operations to meet service delivery targets and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Act as a line manager, managing behaviours and absence, including sickness and holiday.
  • Compile and distribute management information outlining service level data.
  • Manage recruitment with escalation to the Head of Claims Service.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for customer dissatisfaction, handling complaints to conclusion.
  • Motivate and develop the Claims Team to help them meet personal objectives.
  • Coach and mentor Claims Handlers to deliver a market-leading customer experience.
  • Identify training needs and source suitable materials in collaboration with the Head of Claims Service and Head of Technical Claims.
  • Support and encourage change initiatives by suggesting improvements in work systems and processes.
  • Develop effective business relationships internally and externally.

What you’ll need:

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Minimum of 3 years management and leadership experience, preferably with a Level 3 management qualification.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Teamwork skills to encourage and develop effective team working.
  • Dependability to deliver high-quality customer service and perform to the best of your abilities.
  • Job knowledge to achieve optimum effectiveness in your role.
  • Customer focus to meet the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers.
  • Personal effectiveness to manage your time, prioritise and organise your workload.
  • The ability to set an excellent example by promoting the company’s strategy and values.
  • Motivation to recognise individual contributions and work towards team objectives.
