About the role: Claims Handler

As a Claims Handler at Islands Insurance, you’ll manage claims and provide expert advice to customers. You’ll work closely with the Claims Team Leader, Head of Claims Service, and other team members to ensure claims are handled efficiently and to a high standard.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Handle claims according to Islands Insurance policies and procedures
  • Provide expert advice and deliver high-quality service to customers
  • Develop effective business relationships internally and externally
  • Maintain clear communication with colleagues and customers
  • Support the Claims Manager in achieving business objectives
  • Suggest improvements to work systems and processes
  • Provide on-the-job training to others
  • Manage an allocated caseload of claims across various lines of business
  • Deliver short-term projects and ad hoc activities as required by the Claims Leadership Team

What you’ll need:

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • GCSEs in Mathematics and English Language (grades A to C) or equivalent
  • Willingness to work towards a Certificate in Insurance (desirable but not essential)
  • Strong teamwork skills
  • High level of dependability and personal responsibility
  • In-depth job knowledge and a commitment to continuous learning
  • Customer-focused approach
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Motivation to achieve both individual and team objectives

Nice to have:

In addition to the required qualifications, it would be great if you have:

  • Certificate in Insurance or equivalent qualification
  • Previous experience in claims handling or a related field
