About the role: Senior Technical Claims Handler

As a Senior Claim Handler at Islands Insurance, you’ll provide technical claims support to the Claims Team. You’ll work closely with various departments to ensure high-quality service and meet business objectives.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Manage your own case load, including complex and large loss claims.
  • Assist the claims team by providing expert guidance on claims handling policies and procedures.
  • Authorise payments and handle complaints.
  • Develop effective relationships both internally and externally.
  • Attend quarterly large loss case surgeries and organise internal case surgeries.
  • Participate in Senior Technicians’ Forums and share best practices.
  • Help update the Claims Manual.
  • Provide on-the-job training and feedback to Claims Handlers.
  • Support quality audits, control reporting, and MI analysis.
  • Contribute to the effectiveness of the Claims Team by suggesting improvements.

What you’ll need:

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of insurance claims theory and practice.
  • Awareness of the current insurance market in relation to claims.
  • Understanding of claims negotiation.
  • A commitment to providing high-quality service.
  • A comprehensive understanding of our products.
  • Experience handling complex property and commercial claims.
  • Hold Dip CII Qualification or be working towards it.

  • Previous experience in claims handling or a related field
