About the role: Junior Claims Handler

As a Junior Claims Handler at Islands Insurance Group, you’ll play a key role in delivering a high-quality claims service to our customers. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity to gain hands-on experience within the insurance industry, developing your technical knowledge while supporting customers throughout the claims process.

Working closely with colleagues, underwriters, and external service providers, you’ll be responsible for managing claims in line with company policies and compliance standards, ensuring excellent customer service is provided at every stage of the customer journey.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Handling claims in accordance with Islands’ claims handling policies and procedures
  • Providing expert advice and delivering a high-quality claims service to customers
  • Managing and maintaining your own allocated caseload of claims
  • Building and maintaining effective relationships with customers, colleagues, underwriters, and external service providers
  •  Prioritising and organising your workload to ensure deadlines are consistently met
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to support team objectives and business goals
  • Actively contributing ideas to improve processes, systems, and ways of working
  • Maintaining effective communication with customers and colleagues to maximise business performance
  • Continuing to develop your industry knowledge and professional skills
  • Supporting and embracing change initiatives across the business

What you’ll need:

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in Mathematics and English
  • A willingness to undertake training and work towards relevant insurance industry qualifications
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a professional, approachable, and friendly manner
  • Experience working in a busy, customer-focused environment, either face-to-face or over the telephone
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • An analytical and inquisitive mindset with excellent attention to detail
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team while taking personal responsibility for your work
  • A commitment to delivering outstanding customer service and maintaining high standards of quality
