About the role: Senior Data and Financial Analyst
As a Senior Data and Financial Analyst at Islands Insurance Group, you’ll be responsible for transforming data into meaningful insights that support business decisions and process improvements. You’ll work closely with teams across Claims, Underwriting, and Finance, creating and maintaining reports, dashboards, and models that highlight performance trends and opportunities for growth.
Ideally, we’re seeking someone to join us on a part-time basis, working 20–25 hours per week across three days.
What you’ll be doing:
- Collaborating with key business teams to understand data needs and deliver tailored analytics
- Developing and maintaining Power BI dashboards and advanced Excel models
- Conducting in-depth financial and operational analysis to identify trends and risks
- Presenting complex data insights clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
- Ensuring high standards of data accuracy and reporting consistency
- Supporting ad hoc analysis and cross-departmental reporting needs
- Contributing to continuous improvement of reporting tools and data processes
- Delivering short-term projects as agreed with your Line Manager
What you’ll need:
- A relevant qualification in Finance, Data Science, Statistics, Actuarial Science, or a related field
- Proven experience as a data or financial analyst, ideally in insurance or financial services
- Advanced proficiency in Power BI and Microsoft Excel (e.g. pivot tables, data visualisation)
- Excellent communication and presentation skills for both technical and business audiences
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
Nice to have:
- Experience working in a regulated environment or with insurance data
- Familiarity with SQL or other data querying tools
- Proficiency in documentation and report writing
- A curious, methodical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently across departments
