About the role: Senior Technical Claims Handler
As a Senior Claim Handler at Islands Insurance, you’ll provide technical claims support to the Claims Team. You’ll work closely with various departments to ensure high-quality service and meet business objectives.
What you’ll be doing:
- Manage your own case load, including complex and large loss claims.
- Assist the claims team by providing expert guidance on claims handling policies and procedures.
- Authorise payments and handle complaints.
- Develop effective relationships both internally and externally.
- Attend quarterly large loss case surgeries and organise internal case surgeries.
- Participate in Senior Technicians’ Forums and share best practices.
- Help update the Claims Manual.
- Provide on-the-job training and feedback to Claims Handlers.
- Support quality audits, control reporting, and MI analysis.
- Contribute to the effectiveness of the Claims Team by suggesting improvements.
What you’ll need:
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of insurance claims theory and practice.
- Awareness of the current insurance market in relation to claims.
- Understanding of claims negotiation.
- A commitment to providing high-quality service.
- A comprehensive understanding of our products.
- Experience handling complex property and commercial claims.
- Hold Dip CII Qualification or be working towards it.
